Well said, Col. Hutton.

The timing of your essay could not be better Jim, with Gantz resigning!

Having spent time as a young adult in Israel and later working with a member of the IDF during an exchange program I can assure you your myopic analysis only fuels the severely flawed outcome that Israel’s biggest fight is with Hamas. Israel’s biggest fight is within Israel (much like the modern day civil war within our country…Israel is, after all, America’s reflection), with the Likud party losing that fight and sight of their secular origins to extremist Zionist from the right. Our GOP is more cult than political party, as is Likud.

Of course the overall Westernized fucking up of the Middle East (all before 7 October 2023 by the way) for almost 100+ years provided the largest shaping operations for how the entire region looks now. Very fucked up! Soviet handling of the region fairs no better.

All of this pretext without even mentioning the G word; which is going to be another unfortunate outcome where America, once again, will end up on the wrong side of history, unless of course it’s re-written.

You can support Hamas if you wish, but I’ll stick with Israel. You must’ve missed the events of Oct 7. I realize it’s popular to put Israel and of course the U.S. in the worst light possible but it is also ridiculous.

James. I have more investment in Israel than you can ever imagine relating to. Way before the events of October 7th, and will continue far beyond. If you mattered, I would be insulted by your implications that I am anything other than pro-Israel. I just refuse to be anti-Palestine.

But please feel free to obfuscate that point with your binary false equivalence. Where did I once say or even imply I supported Hamas or any other terrorist organization?

It’s sad (but not surprising) commentary indeed to see the direction towards fascism so many parts of the world continue towards, now even the US has just given in to our fascist tendencies too, due to complicit complacence.

Popularity has never been my pursuit, so you must be confusing me with someone else. Just as I use to believe your convictions might be strong enough to take accountability for what our country has done wrong, instead of the tyrannical populist stance of ignoring that the US and our bully ally Israel has provided over 30,000 reasons proving our collective Arab-phobia to be a feature not just a bug.

Claiming it’s hard to admit when you’re wrong has limited shelf life.

Our nation’s complacency is going to take us right back to 1800 - making Merica great again. Or not.
